Dr. Gillespie joined Quintiles in 2006 and has served as a Medical Advisor and Global Therapeutic Strategy Lead on nephrology clinical trials across several indications in CKD and ESRD. She is a Senior Medical Director, and recently served as the North American Head of Medical Strategy in Immunology and Internal Medicine. In 2016 she transitioned into the Office of the Chief Medical and Scientific Officer (CMSO) where she directly supports Quintiles’ CMSO for issues related to science, strategy, ethics and governance. Since fellowship she has remained an Associate Medical Director at a small local HD unit, then joined UNC as Adjunct Faculty to precept fellows’ clinic. Barbara continues to enjoy her collaborations with UNC colleagues across several activities including the Kidney Health Initiative’s Workgroup for Endpoints in IgA Nephropathy, UNC’s PCORI grant on ESRD Symptoms (as a Stakeholder Advisory Panel member), and several clinical trials.
