Research Interests:Dr. Archdeacon is studying the role of epithelial mesenchymal transition in renal fibrosis and looking at the mechanisms which drive EMT in response to injury in the hope to learn to regulate this drive and thereby promote recovery from acute renal failure, prevent scarring in chronic kidney disease, and ameliorate outcomes in renal transplant.

Research Interests: Dr. Gibson's research is primarily focused on the characterization of children and adolescents with lupus nephritis .  Initial observational studies are aimed to determine overall morbidity and mortality, evaluate risk factors for disease progression, and evaluate current treatment strategies.  Current and planned clinical trials evaluating standard and new therapies for lupus nephritis in children and adolescents are in progress.

Research Interests:Interpersonal influences on disease self-management for persons living with autoimmune conditions. Specifically, Ms. Miller is interested in how receiving conflicting medication information from different sources affects medication adherence for lupus and vasculitis patients. She is also interested in how male and female patients cope differently with their illnesses. She is a fourth-year doctoral student in the Department of Health Behavior and Health Education at UNC Chapel Hill.
