The UNC Kidney Center welcomes visiting scholar Dr. Roberto Negrete-Lopez.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from the Universidad Autonoma do Nueva Leon in 2002, Dr. Negrete studied Internal Medicine at the Hospital Christus Muguerza Alta Especialidad. He then continued his specialization in Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at the Hospital Universitario “Jose E. Gonzalez” of the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. Dr. Negrete currently is involved in teaching Fellows in Formation and Medical Students as a staff member of the Department of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon.

Dr. Negrete’s specialized interests include the systematic vasculitis with a major interest in the ANCA-associated vasulitis, lupus nephritis, and microcrystalline arthritis. He received his training and certification in crystal identification techniques at the Hospital General Universitario de Alicante in Spain under the tutelage of Dr. Eliseo Pascual.

Dr. Negrete also identifies himself as a movie enthusiast, believing that film is an excellent vehicle for the expression and communication of ideas. Some of his favorite directors include Stanley Kubric (A Clockwork Orange), Orson Welles (Citizen Kane), and the Coen Brothers (Fargo).
