Doctors Nadiesda Costa, Heather Stewart, Jennifer Vick, and Matthew Volk have successfully completed their subspecialty in nephrology fellowship training.

Congratulations to Doctors Nadiesda Costa, Heather Stewart, Jennifer Vick, and Matthew Volk on the successful completion of their subspecialty in nephrology fellowship training. They have all worked very hard toward furthering their education and clinical skills and are all now eligible for board certification in their subspecialty.

They have done an outstanding job in serving our nephrology patient community, and it has been a joy to have each one of them as part of our UNC nephrology family. We are all very proud of their accomplishments, and are excited to see each of these young and dedicated physicians move forward in their careers. Where are they going and what will they be doing?

Dr. Nadiesda Costa will be heading to Baltimore as an Assistant Professor at the University Of Maryland School Of Medicine in their Department of Nephrology. She will be full-time faculty dedicated to kidney transplantation, and will also study transplant outcomes research with the renal epidemiology faculty.

Dr. Matthew Volk will remain in North Carolina, joining a private practice in nephrology, Mountain Kidney and Hypertension Associates, in Asheville. Mountain Kidney Associates is also the home of three other physicians who previously completed their subspecialty nephrology training at the University of North Carolina.

Doctors Heather Stewart and Jennifer Vick are remaining at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Stewart will further her subspecialty training in nephrology. Beginning July 1st, she will begin a one-year transplant fellowship.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Jennifer Vick as the newest member of our Pediatric Nephrology faculty. She is specializing in the treatment of glomerulonephritis, and will continue her research into the causes and possible prevention of glomerular disease.

Please join us in congratulating Doctors Costa, Stewart, Vick and Volk on their accomplishments, and wishing them continued success as they launch the next exciting phase of their careers.
