UNC Kidney Center’s Dr. Keisha Gibson was recognized by the Class of 2016 with the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Faculty Award at the School of Medicine Commencement this weekend.
This award, sponsored by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation, honors a faculty member “who best demonstrates the Foundation’s ideals of outstanding compassion in the delivery of care; respect for patients, their families, and healthcare colleagues; and clinical excellence.”
Class Presidents Kimmy Vuong and Matt Waters presented the award and delivered the following tribute to Dr. Gibson:
She is an incredible mentor who allows students to learn from her journey and is wholeheartedly dedicated to teaching students and patients.
She truly sets an example for how we can all be better doctors and better people, and she is a bright light in every room she enters. Congratulations, Dr. Gibson!”
Dr. Gibson is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and is Program Director for the Pediatric Nephrology Fellowship Program.
The UNC Kidney Center and the Department of Medicine are honored to count Dr. Gibson among the best and brightest faculty at UNC.
