The Raven Rock Ramble is a 100-mile bicycle ride around Raven Rock State Park that explores the counties of Wake, Harnett, Lee and Chatham. The annual event promotes organ donation awareness and the proceeds go to the UNC Kidney Center, for direct patient services.

This year’s event took place on August 22, raising approximately $30,000. It first began in 2002, and since then has brought in nearly $400,000 for the UNC Kidney Center.

David Massicotte-Azarniouch, MD, MSC, a GN fellow in the division of nephrology and hypertension, was one of 620 riders who participated.

“This was my first time participating in the Raven Rock Ramble, and it was a chance to do a great cycling event for a great cause. What more could I ask for?” he said.

Next year’s event is scheduled for May 1, 2022. Registration opens Saturday, December 4.
