Dr. Gillespie is a board-certified nephrologist who is currently a Vice President at Covance Global CRO and the Therapeutic Head of Nephrology, supporting sponsors on the development of new drugs and devices for CKD patients. She is also on the Board of Directors at the Kidney Health Initiative, a public-private partnership between the FDA and American Society of Nephrology. Dr. Gillespie, an Associate Medical Director at a local dialysis unit, completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of North Carolina and her nephrology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.

She currently serves on several KHI Workgroups: Barriers to CKD patient participation in CV Trials, Endpoints for IgA Nephropathy, and Endpoints for FSGS, Endpoints to C3G. She was/is actively involved in the NKF/FDA Scientific Workshop on Clinical Trial Considerations for Early Common CKD (Workgroup Co-Chair), NKF/FDA/EMA Workshop on Renal Endpoints (Stakeholder Committee), NKF CKD Patient Registry (Scientific Advisory Board), UNC’s PCORI grant on Building Research Capacity in Dialysis (Stakeholder Advisory Board), an invited Workgroup participant for the SONG Initiative (Standardised Outcomes in Nephrology), on the Regional Medical Ad Board for NKF, and the  FDA and NephCure’s Clinical Trial Collaborative (Workgroup Co-Chair).
