Precious McCowan is a Research Assistant at the UNC Kidney Center. A former dialysis patient and three-time kidney transplant recipient, she integrates her lived experience with a decade of professional expertise in patient engagement, advocacy, and education. As a national kidney disease advocate, she has collaborated with academic institutions, industry partners, and policymakers to advance equitable and patient-centered approaches to kidney care. Her scholarly contributions include co-authored publications examining the intersections of dialysis, mental health, and kidney transplantation. Precious holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Human Behavior and joins Dr. Flythe’s research team with a commitment to leveraging patient perspectives to inform and enhance kidney research and health care delivery.
